Research Details

Type: Foundational

Style: Diary Study

Timeframe: 1-2 months

Frequency: Bi-Yearly

Focus: Audience Understanding

In a COVID influenced life, how are daily habits and rituals being changed, altered, or in some cases eliminated? What behaviors and rituals are taking the place of once established habits? The 2 hour daily commute for most people is gone. What are people doing with the reclaimed 2 hours? How is this effecting how I wake up? How I go to bed? When and how am I consuming, or allowing myself to be exposed to news?

There is a fixed amount of time within the day. How does news play a part of this daily cycle? The once established methods and reasons are shifting. As more and more "screens" become available for users to get at news, what are the underlying reasons for choosing one device over another? Does time of day play into what types of news I choose to be exposed to? Does my mental state play into my news consumption?

Our aim is to develop a keen understanding of HOW, WHEN, WHY people are seeking out news in their daily routines.
